The Freehold Twp team that won last night from NJ went 13-1.

13 games is just about the minimum in NJ, maybe 11 or 12 depending on District/ Section.

If a team ever has to come out of the loser's bracket then they could probably end up playing 17 or 18.

It's a ton of baseball, and like you said Stan, is more games than the regular seasons.

The box score is at https://gc.com/game-...09ba50001d9f350

Looks like NorCal melted down or ran out of pitching in the 10th? Or the NorCal coach conserved pitching after several runs scored by SoCal?

It was a 3-3 tie from 6th through 9th inning.  Park View scored 15 runs in the top of 10th.

We were out there...Park View scored all 15 runs WITH 2 OUTS. 4 home runs (IIRC, a solo, a 2 run, a 3 run, and a grand slam).

NoCal had battled back to take a 3-2 lead on a bad error in left field (easy grounder through the legs). In the top of the 6th, SoCal had a man on with 2 outs and 2 strikes and the batter nearly got tossed by PU for arguing balls and strikes. He then laced a game tying double.

Pitching was sharp on both ends through 9 but with 2 outs and a runner or two on, Park View started teeing off on #4, 5, 6 pitchers.

Tough thing is Park View plays again today!

Ok that was me with the prior reply. Park View (SoCal) rallied with 4 in the bottom of the 5th for a 7-4 win over Arizona today. Impressive considering the lengthy game Sunday night.

Thanks for the So Cal updates

When I first saw the score of the 10 inning game, I thought it must have been a typo LOL

It was a really close game, much closer than the 18-3 final score indicated.

Like Bob said, SoCal was down to their final strike, but rallied to tie the game. Then NorCal had a runner on 3rd with less than 2 outs in like 3 consecutive innings, but couldn't walk it off. SoCal eventually got the bats going (understatement of the year).

I watched it on replay on my ESPN app last night.  It really was amazing (the 10th).  2 out, runner on 2nd, a full count and then it got away.  The look on the Vacaville kids faces was just of bewilderment.

So Cal just marches out one huge kid after another.

SoCal is all giants (no surprise there).

Also, poor NorCal. They were two strikes away from winning again last night and then lost it. Tough way to go out.

I saw the last couple of innings of the Utah No Cal game where Utah pulled it out on the short fly to CF that end up in no man's land as a walk off hit.

To get to Regions and come up short like that twice is a rough way to lose.

Last night, I watched Keystone PA vs Delaware

the Delaware team had helmets that had either 1. a sticker or 2. painted - that covered the entire bottom sides of their helmets; it was for lack of a better term sharks teeth like you would see on those old WW2 planes.

How were those helmets legal?

Less than 20% I guess (although I'm sure it was pretty close, those stickers were large and on both sides).

If you recall we discussed that in this thread:

Most helmet manufacturers issue blanket releases that as long as only a certain percentage is covered their products are fine. in addition you would have instances where the helmet manufacturers have knowledge that certain adhesives and inks will not degredate  the helmets over time and they can issue letters that specifically approve those combinations.

I have heard that some helmet makers will designate approved painters.
The NHL goalies have to use them.

West Regional this afternoon with OR vs ID

HPU removed after taking two pitches to the face. In both instances the C was sitting in the LH box for an outside pitch. In both instances the P threw high and tight to the RH batter and they went untouched from the P, past the C into the HPU's mask.
They were flat out just bad pitches and the HPU was just plain unlucky that the C was set up in the opposite batters box.

Ouch.

HPU to catcher before the game, "what's your job?"

Catcher to HPU before the game, "I'm the catcher!"

HPU to catcher:  "No.  Your job is to protect me from the ball.  Do that and we'll get along!"

my son is a catcher at the 15U/JV level and he knows to answer that question right.

according to him it usually works this way; the ump introduces himself and then my son will say my name is ****** and then he says "and I'm here to make sure you don't get hit"

A couple of times the umps laughed and said, is your dad an ump?

Wow, the pitcher missed by that much, Twice!
Was he that "wild" all game?

I'm not saying it was intentional but it is unusual at that level of play/pitching to miss a catcher by that much.
Just something to consider. ;o(

Did you watch Yankees - Sox Wednesday?  Ross was missing by that much.  Wasn't even crossups.
