This was one of the all time great Little League stories 2 years ago when Uganda made it to WIlliamsport. They defeated Spain and will be returning in 2015.

So I take it they fixed that "residency" issue?

Isn't that what got them in trouble last year?

It was actually 2012 when they first made it. I believe in 2013 they were denied because there was an issue that half of these kids live in schools, have little documentation etc... This might have had something to do with the new school rule. Last year Poland denied there visa's for no legitimate reason. Apparently, there were some real racism issues with the Poland embassy.

I follow the original manager Henry Odang on FB and these kids seem to play baseball non stop so it could be only a matter of time before they truly compete. No video game conflicts in Uganda!

When they were denied in 2013, the majority (if not all) of the kids were playing in an athletic-based school, so their residency was deemed to be suspect under the regulations that were in place at the time. Brian is correct that last year there were significant challenges in getting them government documents to travel.

The residency based on school attendances NOT apply to sports related schools!

Hope they are all "legal"!

So it appears two things have happened

1. documents to travel have been resolved

2. whatever that boys school issue was has been resolved

on that note, I was one of many who went out of my way to watch them

I watched the "Opposite Field" documentary on Uganda Baseball and their journey in Little League. Also was reading some blogs about the struggles these kids have and the terrible experiences they have had getting visa's, birth documentation etc...

Highly recommend all to watch
