Our league is debating whether to replace a worn-out pair of metal mesh batting cages with new steel mesh or the relatively new soft mesh 'tunnels'. Our metal mesh cages have netting hung inside, while the new netting tunnels are hung on stanchions.
Leagues using the fabric mesh tunnels - how do you manage safety? I like the lower cost of the fabric batting tunnels but can't figure out how to stop kids from standing too close to the fabric and potentially getting hit by a batting ball.
The steel mesh with hung netting inside is 5x the cost of the suspended mesh tunnels, so if there is a good way to manage safety it would be a nice option. What do other leagues do?
