My son was excited, and I was proud because he umpired his first game in the New York State Junior Baseball Little League Championship.

He has worked hard over the years and has developed into a fine umpire. About 5 minutes after he got the notice, he sat down and started going over the operations of a three-person crew. He takes it seriously.

Apparently, the game went very well, and extra inning 8-6 final.

Always good to hear that we can depend on the next generation of LL Umpires!

Congrats to your son.

Three person crew for a State Tournament?
Very rare around here, unless an ump gets sick or injured and even then there are usually a couple of back-up umps ready to step in if/when needed.
Can't remember the last time I've seen a three man crew at States!

I don't know what is usual around here, but that's what they scheduled for this game.

You usually see 4 or 6?

Eight Sections in the State so there are two Pools of four.
Top two from each Pool advance.
Semi-Finals are Pool A Winner vs Pool B Runner-Up and Pool B Winner vs Pool A Runner-Up.
Winners play for the State Title.

Four umps on the Pool Games and normally six on the Semi-Finals and Finals.
