This weekend is the District Senior Softball Jamboree.
Next weekend is the Major BB Mid-Season Tournament.
The following weekend is the Minor BB Mid-Season Tournament.
After that is the Major SB Jamboree followed by the Minor SB Jamboree.
Five very busy weekends but it's well worth it, after all, it's for the kids and isn't that why we do what we do! B)

Yes, there are days that you stand at the fields and watch kids play and you are reminded just how worth it it all is.

We are starting drafts this week, with coaches and safety meetings coming up, and hopefully opening day in three weeks.

Curious, if you are in mid-season, when does your season end?

What is the format for the Majors Baseball Mid-Season Tournament?
How many teams, etc?

We start in mid-February and run through mid-May.
That gives the leagues a week for their Playoffs to determine their Top Teams.
The District Top Team Tournaments are the last week in May.
All Stars are named/start practicing the first week in June.

=======================
As for the Mid-Season Tournaments we normally get 30 or more teams.
We split them into Red, White, Blue and Gold with two Pools in each (total of 8 Pools).
So, for example, 32 teams is 8 Pools of 4.
We play at numerous leagues/parks around the District.

Every team would play 1 game on Friday night and 2 games on Saturday.
After Pool Play, on Sunday, we have Red Pool A Winner vs White Pool B Winner and White Pool A Winner vs Red Pool B Winner.
The winners then play for the Red/White Championship.
We do the same for Blue/Gold.
So we end up with Two Champions.

The answer to the obvious question is: Yes, we get Waivers for the two double-headers in both Minors and Majors (it's once a season and only a 4 teams actually play 2 double-headers).

========
By the way, we also have a few special rules like:
We use CBO
No player can sit two innings in a row
No player can sit two innings until every player has sat one inning (exception - the pitcher can remain in the game up to his/her pitching limit before sitting)

Must be nice to have that time in June. I had seasons where we played last season game on a Saturday, and started All-Stars on Monday or Tuesday.

Just the way it is.

Our district play is after the season in July. As teams are eliminated from All-Stars, they are seeding into pool place. (They join teams that are only doing district.) Pool play determines groups for the second round, and then there are medal rounds. Ends early August.
