Anyone else dealing with fallout for fall season and the 2018 age charts? All of these teenagers losing a season...

Or are you in the majority whereas you haven't realized the difference?

We're using the 2017 age chart for Fall Ball.
Won't start using the 2018 chart until 2018! B)

Which teenagers are losing a season?
13YO will still play with 11YO (that are league age 12) for 2018.

Aren't incoming majors for 2018 supposed to be playing majors for fall?
Dropped third strike, better pitching, fielding and hitting.
Why play minors again?

It's up to your local league.

In my experience with Fall Ball the vast majority of leagues let players "move up" to play in the division they will play next spring.
That said, a local league could have players play in the same Division they played in last spring.

I thought this was about Seniors

Our local LL now has two Babe Ruth teams to take the Senior League void.

Seniors, do you mean Big League?
LL still has Seniors, it dropped Big League (17-18 year olds).

No one plays big diamond fall ball around here so the complaints haven't started yet.
Most of the leagues in our area only play Seniors so the complaints will probably be minimal in the spring.
The parents probably won't even know their kid skipped a year.

Intermediate may be the biggest impact... there are only eight months worth of kids at age 13. Four months of kids jump straight to 14.

That and the 15s who are born May, June, July and August who are suddenly DONE.

Yes, but it's also the least played level so overall it won't be that big of an impact.

Those old 15s who miss out on their age 16 season will be complaining, but that's probably only a handful in each league. Plus those kids are in high school so it's not that big of a deal.

We've seen a surge of outgoing, lesser talented, 12s that want to play INT as a middle step... but now they won't have a 13 year old season to do so.

Does this mean that the grandfathered 2005 kids are the only ones with any benefit -- all for the LLWS, it seems?
Every other May-August kid loses a year of eligibility?

This would have been so simple when they first did this in 2014 if they had just started with the newest class of 2009-born T-ballers.
It would have been officially 12u Majors by 2021, which is only two years later than the messed-up 2019 plan and LL could have kept 25% of their existing players, all those summer birthday kids, for the extra year.
Seems like a bad business decision to eliminate minimally one year for 25% of your players, but potentially more years since many affected will look towards travel ball for the rest of the years just to play with the same teammates.

They didn't want to wait that long to get the 13s off of the little diamond and make a total age shift.
They wanted a true cutoff.
After a lot of chatter and some torches and pitchforks, a compromise was presented at Congress.
It wasn't easy to even get to that point.
But this is the year that kids above age 12 will lose out.

Keep in mind that this was when USABat was a dream on someone's office chalkboard and not even close to announced yet.

We have not had an issue this fall. We do move everyone up, which does create some confusion ("I don't want my kid to play up," "He's not, he's playing with his peers").

What we are trying to figure out is what happened to our Junior/Seniors. 7 Teams a couple years ago, 21 kids signed up this fall.

(We we do know a couple coaches took kids to another league which runs a fall tournament, which has one feature some coaches long for, no draft.)
