A 10 year old team of ours went to states this year, but was eliminated, as was the team from the other half of our section.

The other coach wants to play one more game for "championship" of our area.

I have messages in about insurance coverage, umpires etc. Anyone  with experience this?

Not sure this would work.

If not part of the actual tournament bracket (consolation), would have to be governed by a Special Games request.

It has nothing to do with the tournament. Sounds more like someone thought it would be a good idea.

And they tell me they want to do it Saturday.

Maybe we look into it for next year.

Mike is correct.
It's not part of "The Tournament", you need a Special Games Request.

Start Fall ball really early with both teams being early sign ups.

Note: Never listen to a word I say.

These are teams from two different districts.

That was my first response, but of course the coach from the other district said they can just play.

Obviously this isn't the first time a coach was wrong !!!

It would not be a Little League scheduled game so it is not covered by LL Insurance and should not be played using LL uniforms/equipment, etc.
Unless, of course, you get a Special Games Request approved.

So the question is, is it a realistic request and if I wrote the request today how long would it take to be approved?

Since it is two Districts, you'd need to get both DAs approval.
After that, it could be called-in and faxed or e:mailed to the Region.
Normally it can be done pretty quickly but the Regional Offices are pretty busy right now.

Nothing wrong with some adults and kids getting together to play a baseball game.
Just make sure everyone knows it is not a Little League game and it is not covered by LL Insurance (just in case someone gets hurt).

To use LL uniforms, equipment and be covered by LL Insurance you need a Special Games Request.

Jeremy... softball is winding down.
You might be able to get it through San Bernadino between brackets.

This is the type of request that should be bounced off the Regional office for clarification.
Could be special games, could be interleague, could be summer/fall ball, maybe they would view as a continuation of the Tournament.
Never know until you ask and most regions should be just about entering a lull period for a week.

Yea, the big problem was they were giving us just a few days notice.
They seem to have dropped it, I think because the field fell through and it got too complicated, (and a number of the kids started football already).

Thanks for everyone's comments.
We can be better prepared for next year.
